Forum and Charter
After the didactic modules, the “1st European Forum of Youth and Local Authorities against Food Waste and for the global Right to Food” has been organized within the EXPO 2015 framework. The students and teachers from each school from the 7 countries involved have participated. The Forum, held in Milan at the end of October 2015, represented an opportunity for dialogue and debate; Youngsters have exchanged proposals about themes connected to food and food waste from a perspective of sustainable human development and a fight against poverty.
After sharing their Chart drafts created within each own territory, the students proceeded, along with Local Authority representatives involved in the project, in the participatory elaboration of the “The Don’t Waste Our Future Charter 2015 – A joint European Manifesto of Young People and Local Authorities to promote Food Waste Reduction and the global Right to Food“.
At the end of the Forum, the final document has been subscribed by participants; Youngsters subscribing the Charter and project partners disseminate the document towards other schools and other actors, just to improve awareness and compliance with topics by increasing the number of signatories. Furthermore, the Charter will be disseminated as main output of the project in the framework of the Campaigns foreseen in the second year of the project, by ensuring a high visibility of the action. Finally, at the end of project the Charter will be presented and further disseminated towards LAs and other public and private organisations, within Local Final events and the final event in Bruxelles. Project website and social networks are also exploited for the dissemination.
